First-of-its-kind Universal Studios resort in Texas releases new renderings

Universal Studios teased more details on its first-of-a-kind kid’s resort underway in Frisco, a North Texas city. On Tuesday, November 18, Universal Kids Resort released renderings of its land theme areas, which include beloved classics like Shrek and SpongeBob SquarePants. The resort will be specifically designed and developed for families with young children. First announced in January 2023, the 97-acre theme park will feature interactive land themes. In addition to Shrek and SpongeBob SquarePants, there will also be play areas for the MinionsPuss in BootsTrollsGabby’s Dollhouse and Jurassic World. The resort area will also include a 300-room themed hotel. “It is a world where kids are encouraged to play, to use their imagination, to pique curiosity, and to find fun ways to explore,” Randolph Borden, senior show producer of Universal Kids Resort, stated in the Tuesday news release. “This is a park that young kids are going to know immediately is for them.” It’s set to open in the spring or summertime between April and June in 2026, Frisco officials told NBC 5 in June. However, the opening timeline depends on the construction project’s progress. Universal Studios could not confirm the spring-summer timeline. In an email to MySA on October 8, representatives said they do not have any new information to share can only confirm that Universal Kids Resort will open in 2026.
